Training
Training is one of the most effective capacity building tools that development
organisations have. It provides opportunities to acquire discrete skills in a
short period of time, gain knowledge, and change attitudes and behaviour. In a
rapidly changing working environment, it is essential that your staff keep up
to date with the latest approaches and continually refresh their skills. ELD runs
short courses to support the human resources development of organisations. ELD
training addresses all stages of the project cycle as well as contributing to
organisational development.
All ELD training programmes - both open courses and in-house assignments -
are founded on research into the real challenges faced by development staff
and organisations. Our training materials are unique and continuously updated
as our experience grows. ELD workshops are:
Participatory
Learner-centred
Interactive / lively
Task-based / practical; and:
Simplify complex topics through clear explanations
Provide frequent opportunities for practice and personalisation
Use a wide variety of appropriate media
Depending on their objectives and group size, scheduled courses generally run
from three to five days. All training is conducted by highly experienced international
resource persons.
In-house Training
In-house Training provides opportunities to:
Approach training as a staff and organisational development exercise
Ensure all staff acquire even skills and are on the same wavelength
Develop the organisation's work, for example, by developing the same project
concept
Focus on the unique challenges facing a particular organisation
In-house Training can also have further advantages of greater time flexibility,
follow-up and cost.
Conflict Resolution Training for SDC-SMDP / Department of Roads
ELD frequently provides training directly to organisations and their partners.
While this often means adapting existing training modules to suit a particular
organisation or field, this can also require completely designing courses from
scratch based on the client's specifications. Most popular in-house courses include
Reporting Skills / Professional Writing and Project Planning / Developing Project
Proposals.
All In-house Training programmes are developed through discussion and negotiation
with clients, and conducted by highly experienced resource persons with extensive
development knowledge and understanding of the local context.
Please contact us to discuss your organisation's capacity building and training
needs.
